...to heaven! Chewing the fat at the Inn at Meander Plantation

We spent the weekend sipping wine and savoring the finest southern cuisine at Meander Plantation. Set against the backdrop of the Shenandoah Mountains, Meander is a gorgeous 1776 plantation on 88 acres of rolling Virginia hills. In fact, Thomas Jefferson and General Lafayette were both frequent visitors, back in the day!
Saturday night was a feast to remember. We started with drinks and hors d'oeuvres in the living room. We nibbled on fried risotto balls and fennel-spiced
shrimp while we mingled with the rich guests. Dinner was seven courses!
I wish I could recall them all, but I was caught up in a flavor fog that was simply divine. Though we left several pounds heavier than when we arrived, I can honestly say I've never had finer food, friendlier company, or more beautiful scenery. Meander Inn is quite simply my favorite place to be.
Lucky for us, we get to go back next week! Dan and I are set to take their two-day intensive cooking school. We will learn how to whip up wonderful recipes for Fall and Thanksgiving feasts. Watch out...
