Life In MaputoSo I was just sitting here in our apartment, writing some emails, adding some calendar events to the blog, when I see this storm rolling in. I have a makeshift desk made out of a closet door setup in one of our many empty rooms. And sitting there I have a picturesque view of the Maputo Bay. And rising over Ketembe is one dark looking cloud. But it’s Winter! It shouldn’t be raining here in Mozambique.

    Road Trips

Who the heck wrote that last piece? It read like a half-baked brochure put out by some park rangers so desperate to save costs they decided against building the anual firewall that surrounds the entire park (during fire season)! Oh wait, that wasn't the park rangers... it was just their officials that are supposed to be running the park (Nature Preserve, really). Oh, well. Mother nature will have her way, no matter what. As proven by Jurassic Park and that always cuddly chaos theorist, mac computer selling, supa-fly, Jeffrey Goldblom). But that is what we were up against. Wildfires (not human-flies) were burning in the Malolotja. And no, they didn't warn us when we entered the park. Sure we saw mountains on fire... I think I got the guitar out and we sang a song a about it, but we didn't think those were the mountains we would be climbing... long story short: they were.

The mac is back. But for some reason I thought it would be a good idea to reinstall OSX into Portuguese… Bem Vindo! WARNING: You will notice peculiarities...

Sorry, it has taken a while, but the photos are finally ready. They have been processed, cropped, colorized, resized and sanitized for mass consumption. Similarly so is the ALL NEW M2A PHOTO GALLERY.

Life In MaputoWell, Dan’s request, insistence, harassment, really, that I post to the blog has finally gotten to me! I can no longer stave off his nagging… he is like the ambitious mosquito in an otherwise harmless swarm, determined to dole out the malaria. I’ve finally succumbed, fever blisters and all.

    Life In Maputo

    HAS ANYBODY SEEN THE BLOG?

Where's that confounded blog?! Is it worth seeing? Oh, here it is. Right where I left it at WWW.MOVINGTOAFRICA.COM. So, let's just cut straight to the matter for once, shall we? Cut out the witty banter, shan't we? I'm sure you are all wondering where we have been, what we have been doing and, why (Yes! I have been getting all your hate mail demanding info!) oh why, haven't we been posting to the blog since... let me check. yikes! May 1st. Well, truth is, (that's what the delete key is for) after I made that last post as Jamy... she freaked out. Not in words, but in action: tried to stab me! Yup, you can picture it now... Then after calming down? She went into a million-mile-per-hour tirade about the evils of blogging and the lack of morals and the unscrupulous principles and forbade me (yup, you heard that right too) forbade me to post another digital detail until... until... I agreed to stop posting in her name, stop posting anything about her and stop posting anything that she has also participated in.

-- I'm only kidding. But, the idea to turn our blog into a pay-per-view sex site has definately been thwarted, once and for all. But really, we've just been busy. And sick. Then busy. Then sick. Then tired. Then tired of being sick. But all the while still remaining busy. All that and the mac had an attack and had to be sent back.

I have this great new idea, I'll just log-in as Jamy and make posts in her name!! You know, just to keep things rolling...

Sun, streets, vendors, visitors, beaches, vistas, ruas, taxis, water, craftsmen, trees, boats, houses, billboards, avinidas, restaurants, shops, cerveja wind tunnel, skylines, sunsets, children playing, people walking, out door markets, roadside attractions, traffic circles, giant stars & painted walls... Maputo has it all!

Well “raising the bar” technology hasn’t picked up anything interesting lately. (You best keep-up the chatter about putting a Mozambican in the White House people). So I suppose we at MOVING TO AFRICA should make another broadcast… if we can keep the bugs out of the system long enough to transmit.

This just in: Moth’s Love Maputo!

    Music

Trying to make the most out this whole blog thing... I thought it would be appropriate if M2A moved into the music (non)business.

The Recording Industry of America can't seem to get it's act together to come up with a solution to digitally distribute music... so let's see if we at M2A can give them a little hand...
